This top wine from Tuscany belongs to one of
the oldest wine makers’ families in the world; Mazzei, since 1435. They were
the first to plant merlot to complete the sangiovese grapes in 1980 in the
region of Chianti Classico between Florence and Siena. The vineyard has an
unique and high location (250 – 330m) with an unique soil and a special
micro-climate. The vinification is done by principle of gravity with soft
extractions of fruit. This is a wonderful wine of Tuscany with a very intense,
fruity sangiovese taste and a mouth-filling merlot taste as an additional
complexity. The wine ripens for 18 months on oak barrels, the wood is well
integrated in the wine.
