Saint Emilion - Saint Emilion Premier Gr Cru Classe B
Alcohol 13,0 %
This chateau has been in hands of Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente for a long time. After struggling with cancer for a long time, Christine died in 2014 at the very young age of 57. It was Christine and her husband who raised this cru to the ranking of Premier Grand Cru Classé in 2006 thanks to a spectacular progress in quality of these wines the last 10 years. The terroir of Ch. Troplong Mondot is located on the highest top of Côte Pavie in Saint Laurent de Combes where the greatest St. Emilion wines are made. Ch. Troplong Mondot is a very deep, delicate but sensual and full wine that can be kept very long. In the summer of 2017, this property was bought by the insurance company Scor for a ridiculously high price per hectare (estimated more than 5 million euros/ha). It is now director Aymeric de Gironde (ex Ch. Cos d’Estournel) that has the leadership.
