Saint Emilion - Saint Emilion Gr Cru Classe

This cru of 16.28 ha was bought by the Dutch family Sioen from Ardooie. Important investments were made to bring the cru back to its level. The result is that is was rewarded by the rank of St. Emilion Grand Cru Classé in the new ranking of 2012. A new destemming machine and selection system (berries in bath of water) were used since 2014. The terroir has 3 types of soil: gravel, sand-clay and a part of sand. Michel Rolland and Jean-Luc Thunevin are the advisors. The culture is biological without any chemical weed control or fertilizer. The wine ripens on 100% oak barrels (of which 95% new oak) for 18 months. The terroir isn’t far from Ch. Figeac.
