The chateau was built in 1870 by a leading architect from Blaye, Mr. Cayx. At that moment, the vineyard only contained 5ha. Gabriel Meffre buys Ch. Glana in 1961 and the surface expands to 43ha by the purchase of several parcels of Ch. Lagrange, 3rd Cru Classé. Ludovic and Julien Meffre, sons of Jean-Paul Meffre have done impressive investments in the buildings, the barrel cellars and the vineyard since 1999. 40% of the yields go into the first wine. Ch. du Glana and Lalande Borie are the most affordable St. Juliens for which you get value for your money. Ch. du GLana can be drunk within 3 years and can be stored for at least 15 years.
