Chateau Haut Batailley is situated at the entrance of the appellation Pauillac with a big tower ‘La Tour l’Aspic’ on the terroir. It is just in front of Chateau Batailley and borders on Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste and the appellation St. Julien. The terroir of 22ha is magnificent with deep layers of clay-gravel and the enclosures of the Garonne are perfect for the plantings of grapes. The vineyard has an average age of 45 years and contains 10000 feet per hectare. The planting density results in very concentrated berries. The domain belonged to the François-Xavier Borie family (Ch. Gr. Puy Lacoste) for a long time, until they sold it to the Cazes family in 2017 (same owners of Ch. Lynch Bages). Their intention is to raise the cru to a higher level than before.
