La Parde Haut Bailly
celebrated its 50th birthday in 2017. It started in 1967 with a parcel of young
vines (called La Parde) that were classified for the second wine and bottled
under the name ‘Domaine de la Parde’ by the former Belgian owner Daniel
Sanders. Ch. Haut Bailly was one of the first chateaus that came up with a
second label to improve the quality of the first wine. This second wine was
renamed ‘La Parde Haut Bailly” in 1979. In 1987 the chateau created a third
wine ‘Pessac-Léognan’ de Haut Bailly to improve this second wine in the future,
which resulted in great success. Lots that were meant for the first wine, were
now used for the second wine. The high quality of La Parde is guaranteed by the
fact that the requirements for the first wine are much higher than before.
