Graves Moelleux - Sauternes
Alcohol 13,9 %
This chateau in Bommes is surrounded by walls and is situated in the middle of the other premier crus. The vineyard of 36ha has a soil of clay and sand as well as clay and gravel and produces very rich wines. This cru belonged to the trading house Cordier for a long time, then it went to the Suez group. In February 2014, the Swiss Silvio Denz, owner of Ch. Faugères, Peby Faugères and Cap de Faugères, bought this Sauternes pearl. A renovation of the cellars is on the programme and about 13 rooms will be prepared to receive both wine professionals and lovers to develop ‘oenotourism’ in this region. During the ranking in 1855, this chateau was classified second within the appellation. The new conical bottle is magnificent with an engraving of René Lalique (artist), and an emblem ‘Femme et Raisins’ (woman and grapes). You would buy this sublime bottle only for this engraving. The wine is on the same level! A must have in your wine cellar!
The renewal of the wine cellars has finished and since
2018 (on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the castle), a 5-star hotel
and restaurant have opened to please both the professionals and wine lovers, as
well as to promote oenotourism in the region.
